It is important in life to learn how to focus. Whether it’s a 6 month old learning to focus on a toy or a teen learning to focus on studying for a final exam, the benefits of this character quality will last a lifetime. Focusing only on one thing at the exclusion of other important matters such as relationships is not beneficial overall, but the learned ability to pursue knowledge and understanding can bring a lifetime of joy.

I illustrate how focusing on important details in a traumatic accident, rather than avoiding this knowledge, can help bring freedom from unfounded guilt.

In this 5 part video series, I talk about some of the aspects regarding Multiple Personality Disorder or Dissociated Identity Disorder, as it is more recently called. In this first video I look at the cause.

If you or someone you love suspects that you have this disorder, or if you have been diagnosed with Dissociated Identity Disorder, there is hope. I have had success in my practice on the road to healing this condition, by taking a look at the power and control trail in the client’s history.

In this video I explain what I mean by a power and control trail, and how abusive power and control that undermines your ability to be in control of your life can cause dissociation, multiple personalities and dissociated identity disorder. I introduce the idea of how dissociative identity begins, and how it continues.
In part two of this series, I will discuss discovering the purpose of the alter personalities.

Please feel free to leave comments or post your questions as we take a look at dissociation and MPD over the next couple of weeks.

Aside from the fact that people experience trauma differently, generally there is also a difference in the trauma response in the ways that men respond to it, compared to the ways that women react to it.
In this video I talk about that difference. Although there are some similarities between how women and men respond, there are some distinct differences also.

Men will often try to use their sense of trauma to blame towards someone or something else for their problem. Women however, tend to personalize it and take responsibility for the trauma. They will try to fix it and easily believe it is theirs to fix.

Women react to the trauma. Men hesitate to blame themselves. Have a look at this video and I welcome you to leave your comments and feedback.
