What is true? In this video I talk about how we understand the definition of truth. There are many things true in your world, that are not true in mine. You have a truth about understanding reality, and so do I.

I believe that these two different definitions of truth are really different perspectives, for instance I have a belief about what a healthy relationship is which is my truth, and you have a belief that might be different then mine, which is your truth. We are talking about our individual understanding of what relationship is for us.

So what about a greater truth or universal truth? When we talk about this truth, it might be different then either one of our perspectives. I believe it is a sign of good mental health when we are on the road towards seeking the more universal truth or true truth.

I have observed that 80 to 90% of all relationship struggles have to do with not being able to move towards the “true truth”, because we are insisting on our own perspective as being the truth instead of cooperating and seeking a higher truth together.

Have a look at this video and let me know your thoughts about this concept of truth and looking at truth in a different way.

On the subject of troubled marriages, I’ve written a book scheduled for publication December 2009, called “It’s All About Power and Control; Why marriages fall apart and what it takes to put them back together again.”

I am completely convinced that people are hard wired for relationship. If this true, then why are we failing so dismally at them? I believe that there are some key things that have been overlooked as we look at this subject and at this problem. One of these key things is the lack of understanding of the power and control dynamics that go on in a relationship.

In this video I talk about my new book and the concept of men having more power than women to influence the health of the relationship. Men have more power then they realize they do and they believe that they don’t have this relational power but that women hold most of it. They make many of their decisions based on this belief.

Counseling couples in therapy, I have discovered that when this concept in understood, marriage struggles begin to turn around and couples begin to flourish in their relationships. As you watch this video, think about your own close relationships and see if you can recognize truth in what I am presenting here. Please feel free to add your comments or questions.

There are many benefits to accessing a therapist online, but today the question is this; is online therapy for depression as effective as in person, face to face therapy?”

There are numerous types of online therapy and in this video I am addressing the type of online counseling that I do, which is video therapy. I meet with many clients in my online conference room which replicates the in person experience without the travel time and expense.

There are some unique aspects to depression which make online counseling therapy a good option for many people. My clients have found that online therapy can actually enhance the therapy experience. As a therapist, I also see some very positive results counseling online with those who have issues with depression. Have a look at this video as I talk about some of those aspects from my perspective and from theirs.

Please feel free to comment and express your thoughts or to post your questions about online counseling.

What do women mean when they say that they want a real relationship?

Being a counseling therapist, relationship problems are something that I hear about daily. In this Video I talk about a few of the common issues that I come across in my counseling practice regarding marriage problems.

Men often struggle with trying to figure out what their wives want when it comes to relationship. Often they are not even sure what a woman means when she expresses her frustration or when she wants “more” from the marriage. Women talk about wanting a real relationship; what does that mean?

Women want to know that they are not just the extended arm of their husbands. Women want their husbands to have the same expectations for themselves that they put on their wives. Women want you to acknowledge who you are and what is real for you. Women want to know their partners and that means sharing thoughts and admitting mistakes. This is part of being real.

Have a look at this video as I explain the statements that I have made in this post and share your thoughts with me.

Norm Quantz talks about the signs of depression and the indicators that something may be going on that is related to depression.

Let’s talk about the signs of depression and the indicators that something may be going on that is related to depression.

In this video I discuss moving from coping to conquering by taking a look at the power and control dynamics going on within the relationships of a client that comes in with the symptoms of depression.

In working with a client I ask for more context. I find out what else is happening? I will ask a client to help me understand what he or she might face every day and I listen for where the power and control is at in their relationships. Who has the power? Is there something so overwhelming that it’s not a matter of depression, but a matter of the overwhelming nature of the power and control in their lives so strongly affecting them that they feel like they don’t matter, that they don’t count and are not valuable or important. This can be very overwhelming, and often shows itself as depression.

People use coping as a way of dealing with struggle issues and though I believe it is very important to cope, I also believe there is a better way available to people. Take a look at the video and please feel free to post comments, questions or offer feedback.
