Today on the blog I am addressing the broad subject of love. This is such a huge topic but for this video I will only discuss the aspect of what love really is.

Many people believe that real love is about communication, connection and caring for each other but what about when the communication breaks down and the connection is faulty? Does that mean that the couple is loving at sometimes and not loving at other times?

Using an easy to understand model, I explain how the struggle develops between two people in a relationship and although we can appreciate that both have valid points, I offer a third alternative that goes beyond the two view points; the definition of best. What is the best way for human beings to come to understand each other, thereby understanding more about what real love is. What results when two people strive to live in the definition of best?

As you watch this video, what thoughts come to mind? I welcome you to share them and any questions or other comments that you may have.

With You in Mind

There is a difference between personal power and personal value. All humans have equal value; we all have the same value. People naturally hold different amounts of power in relationships but power and value are not the same thing.

When one person’s actions state that their ideas and wishes are more valuable than other persons, what does this actually look like; how does one recognize when this type of belief is present in a relationship? This concept can be applied to any relationship, not just a marriage or couple relationship.

Norm has spoken in other videos on this blog about psychological abuse and the power differential between men and women. In this video, Norm talks about equal value and different power and sheds some light on this universal problem.

How has this affected you or do you think it has? Have a look at this video and please feel free to offer your own comments and feedback.

What is the actual power of each person in the marriage or relationship? In almost every relationship, there is a different level of power present and I believe that makes a difference, so when people try to be absolutely equal it gets mixed up and confused. What is revealed when the issue of power is more closely examined within the relationship?

In this video I offer a different perspective about equality as I introduce the huge subject of power differential in relationships. I take a look at power and the power differences in a marriage or relationship between two people. I use some examples of these differences and how the issue of equal can be in question.

I welcome comments, questions and feedback on this most interesting topic.
