Sexual Abuse Recovery 101
To begin anything, including healing, is hard. To finish strong is harder. To discover the process of recovery needed to finish strong, for this long overdue online seminar called Sexual Abuse Recovery 101. There are no prerequisites to register although reference will be made to the one hour free seminar: 7 Keys for Sexual Abuse Recovery. In this 101 seminar, I build on this free seminar in order to set participants up to journey well.
The emotional pain and private agony endured at the hands of a sexual abuser, whether male or female, leaves the survivor wondering what to do. In this dynamic, intensive, yet safe environment, I will lead the online seminar participants through the key foundations needed to heal that I have discovered and extensively used through out the years in my counselling practice. I will also describe the diversions and the pitfalls endemic along the routes that Sexual Abuse survivors typically take to heal.
There is no such thing as a normal journey. Each experience has its differences. But there are some similarities along the way that I have discovered by working with hundreds over my 30 years of counseling Sexual Abuse survivors. Further, my pioneering work on Power and Control issues in close relationships has provided me a leadership role amongst my colleagues when it comes to moving individuals through the healing process from just coping to conquering.
What you will learn is on target to help both the sexual abuse survivor and those that have a heart of compassion to help them. You will learn:
- what a typical process of recovery involve
- to understand the uniqueness of your experience/s
- what has changed over the past decades that is helping survivors to thrive
- where to find in-depth help and
- how to identify real helpful support and avoid some well intentioned but abusive ‘helper
