Whether you are seeking legal advice or you have decided that it is time for a divorce, there are some important things to consider before you have your first appointment with the lawyer you have chosen. Seeking assistance from a lawyer can be intimidating for many women especially when you have been psychologically abused, mentally tormented or physically abused in your relationship. Sometimes women have a hard time expressing the facts in this stressful situation.
In this video, Norm talks about laying the ground work for that first meeting with a new lawyer and some of the points to consider before the meeting. Do you know what your major concerns are? What are the patterns, if any, that your partner follows? Document what has been happening. Are there mind games and if so how do they work? These are some of the questions you can write the answers to, in order to present the lawyer with a clear picture of your situation. Have several examples ready for the lawyer to read and include statements about what you would like the end result to be.
Going into the meeting prepared in this way will provide clarity and direction to the lawyer. Have a look at the video and please feel free to comment or ask questions.
